RE: LONG RANGE WEATHER FORECAST - AUSTRALIA

September 2023:

       Queensland:

  • Second week- Coastal showers.

  • Moderate falls to the South-East and adjacent Inland.

  • Further local showers and thunderstorms to the South-East.

  • With isolated showers and thunderstorms to the Southern Inland and moderate falls to the Far North Coast.

  • Showers and storms are indicated on the South-East and Darling Downs at the end of the month.

  • Showers are indicated to the Inland Tropical Coast with isolated showers and storms to the Western and Central districts.

  • Very hot temperatures at the end of the month with North Westerly winds.

  • Isolated storms to the Southern Inland at the beginning of the month, commencement of the 2nd week, South-East about the 17th, Southern Inland about the 25th and 27th, South-East 28th and the Western and Central Inland about the 30th.

    New South Wales:

  • Temperatures above average for the month.

  • Severe storms and rain during the middle of the month especially to The North Coast and South to Wollongong.

  • storms.

  • Showery activity to the Southern parts of state.

  • A line of thunderstorms and accompanying showers are indicated about the 26th and 27th, with further thunderstorms indicated on the 30th for the Eastern districts.

  • In summary cold fronts are indicated 10th to 12th, 19th, 24th and 30th, with troughs bringing rain and storms about the 6th and 26th, and a Coastal Low bringing rain and storms about the 15th to 17th.

  • Snow on the Snowy Mountains.

  • Regarding winds it appears September will be windy with strong winds indicated on the Coastal waters.

  • Gales are indicated from the Tasman Sea.

       Northern Territory:

  • Isolated shower activity is indicated to a number of areas at the beginning of the month with some isolated thunderstorms to the Victoria/Barkly and Alice Spring divisions.

  • Further storm activity is indicated to the Darwin precinct about the 25th.

    South Australia:

  • Northerly winds are indicated during month creating above average temperatures.

  • It appears that a number of fronts will cross the state. The first is indicated at the beginning of the month bringing strong winds and heavy seas particularly in the vicinity of Kangaroo Island.

  • Hail and thunderstorms crossing the State about the 9th to 11th.

  • The next front is indicated about the 16th to 18th to the Central divisions, and again about the 28th of the month.

  • Overall keep an eye on these fronts, especially the wind factor.

       Victoria:

  • Unsettled weather is indicated between the 17th and 20th bringing rain and showers.

  • Some showers are indicated about the 24th and 25th mainly to the Southern Coastal and Eastern areas.

  • And finally, another Front at the end of the month affecting most areas with rain, showers and storms.

       Western Australia:

  • About the 13th – 15th a further frontal system is indicated on the Western areas bringing light falls to the majority, but some rain to the South-West.

  • The next frontal system is indicated between the 19th and 23rd with strong winds affecting the South Coast bringing, showers, rain and thunderstorms.

  • The Lower South-West should experience a number of fronts, 25th, 27th, 28th and 30th.

       Tasmania:

  • Cold fronts affecting Tasmania about 18th, 19th, 24th, 25th, 29th and 30th.
